Ayurveda 101 Featuring Layla Gilman Reed
Ayurveda is yoga’s sister science and one of the oldest holistic healing systems of medicine. Ayurveda teaches us how to live in rhythm with nature in order to stay balanced, grow, and thrive. In order for each of us to fulfill our dharma, our unique life’s purpose, we need to be our healthiest and happiest self. We can do this by becoming aligned with nature’s rhythms and embracing our particular elemental constitution. In this workshop we will explore the five elements, our unique elemental nature or “dosha,” how we get out of balance, and what will help bring us back into balance. We’ll learn some simple daily/seasonal routines, nutrition and lifestyle practices that set us off in the direction of healthy, vibrant, dharmic juiciness!

We will dive into our breath and all of our senses cultivating a feeling of gratitude and appreciation for all that is around us. Red Bird Hollow Trail Running & Poetry Featuring Christopher Dwyer
Soak up some poetry, get dirty, laugh, move in nature and connect with your local/wild terrain. After a trail run, chances are, you struggle to put into the exact right words how to capture the glowing feeling you get before you re-enter the atmosphere of society. What is the hum-drum of traffic compared to the rings of Saturn?! That feeling, like the Tao itself, is lost as soon as it is given a name. But among the trees, we will share literal and metaphorical poetry - using language to go beyond language, using hustle to go beyond the hustle and bustle, using our bodies to go beyond the confines of the body, using the good Earth to go extra-terrestrial! In this workshop, we explore the hidden beauty of Cincinnati trails, review how to run freely and safely on the terrain, and indulge in the philosophical, sometimes mischievous, elements of trail running.

Join Brandon & Dave for this awesome fun trail run at Red Bird Hollow. This run will be 3-6 miles. You choose your adventure and your pace! The Redbird Hollow trail is one of Indian Hill’s numerous paths along ridges and through forests. A naturalist’s delight, this 54-acre tract in the southwestern quadrant of the Village belongs to the Nature Conservancy and the Redbird Hollow Association. Long ago glaciers that spread to southwestern Ohio carved ridges and hollows through which streams then flowed. The glacial conglomerate in Redbird Hollow reveals the era in which the land was shaped and the physical characteristics of that time. Today, Redbird Hollow remains a serene preserve where wildflowers abound, and deciduous and coniferous trees shade the trail. Woodpeckers, sapsuckers and owls inhabit the valley as well as deer, fox and coyote. This wild remnant of Ohio forestland and stream, designated an Ohio Natural Landmark in 1983, remains a fragile oasis in the heart of Indian Hill. Come and enjoy this rockin' fun run!

Yogic Sleep Featuring Katy Knowles & Ron Esposito
Join Katy & Ron for this amazing journey called yogic sleep or yoga nidra. Yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. This state of consciousness is different from meditation in which concentration on a single focus is required. In yoga nidra the practitioner remains in a state of light pratyahara with four of his or her senses internalized, that is, withdrawn, and only the hearing still connects to the instructions. The yogic goal of both paths, deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation are the same, a state called samadhi. Yoga nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. The practice of yoga relaxation has been found to reduce tension and anxiety. The autonomic symptoms of high anxiety such as headache, giddiness, chest pain, palpitations, sweating and abdominal pain respond well. It has been used to help soldiers from war cope with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Yoga nidra refers to the conscious awareness of the deep sleep state, referred to as prajna in Mandukya Upanishad.
